Leeds "A" 23 points? Whats all that about?

Come on girl's, spill the beans, what happened? However, there is never a report you have lost?

I think you will stay up though, following your good result against Warrington!

I don't think you have enough selectors

Dave your memory is very short. If you can be reminded you never managed to get into the North Yorkshire team after recording four single figure losses. Now you have the cheek to take the mickey.Lets be fair. The only reason you are in the Leeds first team is because you are the captain. Oops

All I can say about our 23-9 defeat is we weren't good enough, i for one battled for every one of my points against John Packer, then at 20-19 up, bowled as though 20 was good enough away, shocking bowls, 2 down, game over. I've no doubt everyone battled but a good home green knowledge at Cranmore certainly showed as we were outclassed.

Unlucky you mr wolf.At the home venue your mate Cory was one of two or three bowlers who deserved man of the match with a brilliant win in the end from being well down.He has improved over the last couple of years and now his attitude is superb.Well done young Cory and long may your success continue. By the way I think that their second team is probably as good as their first team with a lot of players miles better than the captain of the first team if that is a yardstick to go on. I also think that we could not produce a better team than selected.Everyone tried their best so that is all that can be asked

The Leeds first team did not fair much better at the hands of Barrow.
Recording an average 7 winners at home and an unbelievable 1 winner away from home.

The away team had a good old laugh on the bus on the 290mile round trip, I would hope the Leeds mgmt are grateful to those of us who turned up at short notice to help including myself who was suffering a hangover, and well done to Ray Dev, who won all the money on 3 card Brag..beating Firthy with "10 high" to take the largest pot of the day.

Ray also picked up second sweep for his 19 defeat :o

Correct David, I am indeed very grateful for everyone who went such a great distance, we did have only seven winners at home, despite having what I thought was as strong a team as I have had for a home game for a good many years. However, as usually happens no matter how strong your team seems to be, your opponenets are well capable of bowling very well, as the 5 winners for Furness at Pudsey proved. We now need to beat South Derbyshire 20-12 at least, to keep our place in the top league, so its in our hands and cannot make any excuses if we don't achieve a positive result,However North Yorks look doomed to Div 4, as they have all their games played and need Warrington to beat Leeds "A" to keep them up.

Oh and just a final note, Rule L of the Fedeartion National League Rules, states: "An Affiliate not fulfilling a fixture to be given no points for that fixture whilst their opponents receive an average of all their other games at the end of the season"

So I am afarid that North Yorks are stuck with their average on the 3 home games.

Seems very unfair to the team that doesn't get to play, only way that rule will change is at the AGM in November.

I agree with wolf on the day just not good enough all round - home and away.

I wouldn't say we were outclassed away though, couple of strong performances for the home team but probably at least 5/6 of us who would look back at games that we could and should have won.

Re relegation if it happens it happens and we need to build again from here onwards. If we have any players left following mr tuppers rumoured advances :) As the wise owl Ken says we have limited resources and so cannot afford too many to have a bad day at the office and still win games.

No point getting too wound up about it and as long as we all enjoy it and try our best that's all you can ask / do.

Not sure if we were all as wound up about losing as Raging (Bull ) Piglet though.

David you really do try dont you Rule L
It may well be shown as a rule but as you well know it wasn't a rule agreed at last years agm and therefore is not valid but open for debate so don't go celebrating too early, don't Leeds run to referees or have they spent all their cash on 1st team managers expenses.Could be a big fine coming your way didn't you see latest communication about lack of officials

Good luck in your last game

I would not celebrate at your failure, i can assure you, I like healthy local competition and to not to compete against our nearest opponenets would be dissapointing, as well having an affection for you lot, believe it or not! I still miss playing in Harrogate and have many fond memeories. Whats this about referees? Missed that one, haven't had a problem recently, Ian or Brenda have been doing my 1st team games have have both been great.

I understand that you have proposed to turn that rule upside down and have the average of the points scored against the offending team to count as your score?

I think the Federation are in a awqward position, in reality they should take all Warringtons points of them and kick them out but, they don't want to lose and teams so they make a decision they deem to be the best at the time.

You know as well as anyone that it is impossible to please everybody and there will be always grey areas in all rule books as each new situation crops up, it probably won't happen again for a long time, it will be some thing else.

Take care, and don't take things to heart.

Keep digging Smithy.

You'll be crawling back to North Yorkshire when you lose the captaincy... 8)

I can only comment on the home performance, I agree with other posts on here poor performance from NY, - Me included.

Bad day at the office, we can do better than that, thought we would come straight back up this year. To be fair i thought Leeds had a decent enough side out with some bowlers who are capable of playing at a higher level.

All we can do is come back stronger next year.
