Why do we start the league in early April when its cold, wet and gets dark early, surley we could start 3 or 4 weeks later, the weather is much better at the end and after the season has finished.

The season used to end on the Starbeck gala monday - richardson trophy had been going a fortnight before harrogate season started.
Not ideal clashing with gala for last date as last 8 or 4 struggled to make games and if an important league game could impact on their game on the night.
Weather is variable sometimes march april been glorious then peed down in may. This year unusually cold april.
The fixture schedule seems more crowded than ever and lots of weekend events now run into sept.
We start sats, thurs and hgte league same weeks now. worth a debate though. _________________ Zorro - the flashing blade

Very good question Mr Postie. The answer is that in Harrogate we can bowl in any weather and are very hard people. Why wait until the weather gets good. When the Harrogate league is finished you can then go and sun bath. See what you would have been missing if you start later.

Should have flood lights and a platofrm with raised floor and surrounding walls and in built goals to drop over the top so clubs can hire out for 5-a-side during the winter months. nice little earner ! copywright zorro _________________ Zorro - the flashing blade

my little idea was instead of having crazy golf, you have crazy bowls, and just make the most insane green youve ever seen with drops like a rollercoaster drop .......
but yeah back to reality. _________________ you have to be good, to be cocky

i would like the league to start earlier but would think it is better getting the games played as early as possible to make sure all the fixtures can be fulfilled.
