Get off my back and lighten up, its a bowls site, it is not life and death, nothing is intended to upset anyone or case offence. Sorry Chris don't know who Alf Tupper is/was, I am sure he was a Gentleman though.
Love Bobby (always a swannie)
I am surprised that you are not related to Alf 'the tough of the track' Tupper
Immortalised in the comic The Victor he was a mile runner who's full time job was a welder. On many occassions he would be welding late into the night getting a job done with only a break for fish and chips then with little or no sleep would turn up at the world championships with his aged spikes and running kit wrapped in a towel. On occassions he was so exhausted from his welding his team mates would find him asleep in the changing rooms and they would rouse him from his slumbers and he would wake himself with cold water and get to the track just in time to beat all the foreigners, overcoming their cheating tactics in the process, with a last gasp surge to the line to pip the apparently fitter, but lacking in that extra grit and determination, german. On the way home he would celebrate with a double helping of fish and chips.
So you can see he represented all things English and hope you can understand why I thought you were related
