Knaresborough Tigers lift themselves off the foot of the table for the first time this season after an excellent 8-2 win over a strong Bilton WMC team. Billy Fox bowled superbly to take a clean sweep 21-0 win. Brian Armitage followed up with an excellent performance of his own winning 21-2. Derrick Fox finished best for Bilton keeping himself top of the Averages winning 21-6.

It was another excellent week for Low Harrogate who have been making a real fight of it of late. Ken Iverson’s 21-9 win helping them in an 8-2 victory over Dacre. Peter Wild soaring highest for the Eagles with his 21-6 win. Dacre are going to have to dig deep with the other potential relegation candidates all finding good recent form.

Black Swan stand clear at the top of the table after beating Bilton Centurions 8-2. Phil English once again dominated his match winning 21-7. Dave Rowson also enjoyed a win by the same margin. Wayside’s Brian Walker gained revenge for his Dragon Open exit after winning 21-5 against Knaresborough Lions. Skipper Steve Cochrane wrapped the match up 21-9 helping his team to a 7-3 victory.

Andrew Dodsworth 21-2 and Phil Hill 21-6 were in fine form at home for Bardsey securing a good 8-2 win over Starbeck.
In Division 2 Black Swan’s biggest challenge of the season now appears to be if they can finish the season with more points than their 1st team club mates. A strong performance at Almscliffe saw them win 8-2 which takes them a huge 29 points clear at the top of the table. Peter Nacey the best of the evening winning 21-5 closely followed by Susie Mitchell 21-8.

Pateley Bridge held onto second spot after beating Bilton Trojans 8-2. It was a tight match between Bilton Spartans and Wetherby Knights. Adam Walker put in his best performance of the season winning 21-9 which was enough for the Spartans to win the aggregate and take the game 6-4. Bardsey Osprey’s put in another sterling home performance beating struggling Low Harrogate 8-2.

Dacre Falcons maintain their grip on Division 3 after beating Wayside Rangers 10-0. Barbara Todd 21-5, Malcolm Smith 21-7 and Margaret Peel 21-7 all dominated their games. It was four winners each between Bilton WMC and Starbeck. Good displays from Barry Jeffrey 21-2 and Peter Kirtlan 21-8 helped the Club gain the aggregate and a 6-4 win. Knaresborough Badgers stay hot on the heels of Dacre after beating Boston Spa 8-2. Jack Stanley 21-5 and Joyce Baybutt 21-6 lead the way in an excellent team performance.

Betty Marshall was Wetherby Cavaliers star performer against Pateley Bridge. Her 21-8 win went a long way to securing a Cavalier 6-4 win. There was a powerhouse display from Bilton Athenians who beat Almscliffe Ramblers 9-1. Max Dodd bowled exceptionally to win 21-7. Jim Smith finished the match with a shining glimmer for the Ramblers winning 21-7.

An 8-2 win for Black Swan over Starbeck in Division 4 secures them top spot in the league. Ian Voakes 21-6, Peter Bellerby 21-9 and Trish Howarth 21-9 all won well. Dacre Kites also enjoyed a good home win after beating Low Harrogate C 8-2. The same margin that Bilton Corinthians gained over Knaresborough Foxes helped largely by Len Caine 21-6, Peter Sanderson 21-9 and Joyce Blackburn 21-9. Things were tighter as Low Harrogate D entertained Collingham. With the teams sharing 4 winners it was once again Collingham skipper Lorraine Poulson that pulled her team home to victory. Her 21-8 result securing a 6-4 win.

In Division 5 Starbeck and Black Swan spit the game an even 5 points apiece. Nick Baranovski 21-3 and Terry Mitton 21-6 were the ‘Beck’s star’s, with Jack Hodgson 21-2, Simon Hodgson 21-7 and Val Rowson 21-8 all performing exceptionally for Black Swan. It was a result that see’s the club hold pole position in four of the five Divisions and proving just what a rich vein the club are currently enjoying.

Barnard Mynette 21-4 and David Wood 21-7 were Knaresborough Hounds best winners in their 8-2 victory over Almscliffe Strollers. Anne Smith proved the best stroller of the night with her 21-7 win.

The North Yorkshire Federation team are back in action this Sunday. They host their rivals Leeds in what is sure to be a tense and exciting derby match. The game will be at Wayside with a 2pm start.
